Transect Data Collection

Help me give my students a new LabQuest 3 data interface to collect data in their chosen transect on the school property

My Project

My middle school students are so incredibly inquisitive about the world around them. They love to ask questions, and I encourage THEM to discover the answers. They also love technology, so I combine it with studying the great outdoors. Four times a year, my students create a transect in our green space by placing a hula hoop in a grassy area. They use Vernier probeware and data collection interfaces to collect information on air and soil temperatures, relative humidity, UVA and UVB rays, soil moisture, and wind speed. They also measure shadow length and list biotic and abiotic factors in their transect. At the end of the year, students graph results and compare and contrast the seasons.

Over the years I have purchased Vernier probes and interfaces.

Unfortunately, one interface is now so old it can neither be repaired nor have the battery replaced. I want to replace it with a newer version so my students will be in smaller groups, more students can interact with the probes, and all students will collect accurate data.
