I need to provide teachers at my school with an easy-to-reference guide to ease the implementation of PBL.

My Project
This guide will help our entire school grow professionally by supporting us in implementing a new grade-level transdisciplinary project-based learning unit. Transdisciplinary PBL encourages students to see connections between disciplines and understand how knowledge is interconnected. This holistic approach helps students develop a deeper understanding of complex real-world issues and challenges. Some staff have implemented PBL before, but many will need a refresher and/or a guide. This resource is the guide we need to support us as we learn more about PBL as a whole staff PLC. We will use this guide to help scaffold and support instruction as we expand, revise, and refine our problem-based learning initiative so that students are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
This guide explains seven reasons to use PBL, seven essential project design elements, five steps for designing a project, seven key project-based teaching practices, examples of what PBL is and what it is not, and tips for engaging students and classroom management.
In today's interconnected world, many problems require interdisciplinary approaches. Transdisciplinary PBL prepares students for interdisciplinary work environments by equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries effectively. This work will be led by the school's STEM specialist and curriculum coordinator—both National Board Certified female educators.
