Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a high school counselor and I work with 463 students in grades 9-12 in Pasadena, Texas. As their counselor, I play a vital role in supporting their academics, personal development, addressing personal challenges, while advocating for student well-being. A large part of my job is ensuring my students are on track for graduation which includes consistently monitoring their credits and evaluating their transcripts. Currently, I use my desktop to review the hundreds of transcripts, but I could use an iPad for ease of mobility and working on the transcripts while I am at lunch duty.
An iPad would allow me to easily make notes of credit deficiencies onto each transcript while ensuring better record keeping, which leads to a higher graduation rate.
A transcript is a tedious document to evaluate and having an iPad would allow me to write on it, make notes and feel confident that my students are in the classes they need for graduation. I take pride in maintaining a high graduation rate and this would help me keep that going!
