This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a low SES, high-need middle school that wants to raise test scores using cooperative learning and technology.
My students need to be ready for the workforce and exposing them to all types of technology is the way to do it. Our current technology situation is far too little for everyone that needs it. For my 120-plus students I have 2 working desktop computers.
Netbooks are small and portable. They will enhance the two existing desktops that I have. I have plans for implementing web design, group presentations, and other multimedia projects for my students.
My plans only go so far and I need generous donors to help me with the rest. My students need to be exposed to technology on a daily basis. For my students to be ready for the job market when they graduate they will need as much training as possible. This starts in the classroom with applications that integrate what they are learning with what they will need to know to live in the real world.
