Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are driven to be strong leaders. After a couple years in quarantine remote learning, they are ready to start 6th grade and their 2nd "normal" school year. As their 6th grade teacher, I would poke my head and see the kids in action in their 5th grade class. They were so joyful, and they were participating and engaging in classroom discussions. I would love to continue encouraging them to excel in math by providing resources that are already created by other awesome teachers.
While I do have a math curriculum already created, the resources I will get from Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) will be for small intervention classes.
They will be used to give students extra at bats. I want to find a joyous curriculum that kids can relate to as young 10-11 year olds. For my first project with Donors Choose, I was able to purchase financial literacy materials for students in remote learning from TpT. Those students are now rising 8th graders and I hear them say that those materials were the most impactful lessons for them. They talk to teachers about how they learned how to manage money and they are thinking of ways to save for college. I would love to continue encouraging kids to love math. This project utilizing Teachers Pay Teachers will support that.
