My Students

My students are a fun group of creative and active fifth graders. We live in a rural, isolated village in northwest Alaska, where many students practice subsistence hunting and fishing to support their families. Most of my students are Native Alaskan and are taught traditional native values.

My students love playing sports, hunting caribou, riding snow machines and four-wheelers, going ice fishing, and sledding.

My students are a diverse group, with strong ties to their families, their culture, and the land. In the classroom, they are an energetic group that enjoys working in groups, doing hands-on activities, and playing goofy games.

My Project

My students have spent most of the school year doing in person schooling, thankfully. However, the impact of distance learning from last spring is still felt this year, mostly in the vastly different abilities of my students. Some of my students remain above grade level, and some have lagged behind. My students need me to meet them where they are so everyone is challenged at their own level. It is difficult and time-consuming to create resources myself for every one of my students, and expensive to buy them.

These Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards will be used every day, and will benefit every student.

With the wealth of resources available on this website, I will be able to differentiate for students who need extra support, and to bring harder work for my students who are up for a challenge. The art projects and sub plans are also fantastic.
