My Project
Deaf and Hard of Hearing students miss out on many learning opportunities as they grow up in a hearing world. By the time we get our students, they are often significantly delayed from their same-age hearing peers linguistically, socially, and academically. Deaf children are born to hearing parents 90% of the time, these communication barriers lead to gaps in communication and learning to understand the world around them. The materials chosen will allow more efficient documentation of progress, organization, and opportunities for play based learning and language growth. The toys will allow them to engage in play based learning with real-life, functional toys. The video and audio recorder will allow me to better track student progress, especially through the visual modality. The office supplies and organizers will help me better organize materials and track progress. Play is one of the keys to language development, let's keep learning, playing together, and encouraging growth!
