My Students
My seven students are curious, fun, sweet, and persevering learners. They all are diagnosed with moderate to severe learning disabilities performing significantly below their age level. They have very high needs and need a lot of support in the classroom to complete various tasks throughout the day. Despite having many challenges, my students work hard at succeeding and they never give up. Each student has unique qualities and skills and we are all working towards becoming independent and kind individuals in our community.
My Project
My special education students need appropriate toys for learning and playing in the classroom. My students love to play with animal toys, sensory materials, and transportation vehicles. The toys selected in this project will help support my students' sensory processing, self-regulation, language, social-emotional, focusing, and fine motor skills. My students need a large and appropriate timer to help them with transitioning throughout the day. My students also need modified and adapted books. The rings will help me with creating more adapted books and make it easy for my students to look through and turn the pages of the books. The sensory slime will help my students with sensory processing delays and who love to seek fun sensory experiences. Sensory slime is also calming for my students and can help them remain engaged and focused for a long period of time.
