This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.

I am going back to teaching Pre-K this year.

This year will be very different due to COVID-19. I will serve approximately 15-20 students for the 2020-2021 school year with a wide range of abilities, needs, and concerns. My students are in a low income/high poverty school in which more than 80% of the students receive free or reduced-price meals.

When children have a strong foundation of learning, they are able to stay on track to remain in school, graduate, and pursue post-secondary education and training to successfully transition into adulthood.

Children make my classroom their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. No matter who enters through my classroom doors, they become part of our school family. So this year, I want to make my students as safe as possible in the classroom and provide items to help them during remote learning.

My Project

I would like my students to come in the first day of face to face instruction and have a nice surprise. They would walk in their toy story themed classroom excited to learn.

My students would be able to "read" and listen to their teacher read stories from the Toy Story collection book.

The posters, banners and sticker walls would be motivational and decor.

The treasure box would hold treasure box items like play-dough, bubbles, ring pops and themed stampers.

The stickers would also be motivational.

The storage boxes would hold/organize my student folders.

The puzzles, matching/memory game and potato head would be used in centers.

My students would be thrilled to be in the classroom with these items.
