This is a fully-inclusive, enthusiastic fourth grade classroom located in a small town!
In an effort to make history and geography come alive, I design virtual field trips where we travel around the regions of the USA and tour the area. This integrates numerous subject matters besides social studies as well as allowing students to use multiple types of learning! These field trips are practically impossible to take on one small computer--all 23 students can't see, especially if we are moving around as we tour.
A projector would allow me to attach my laptop and then the students could view the entire field trip, including websites, webquests, etc. with ease.
In a small town where few students have the opportunity to even travel within the state, these field trips open their minds to other possibilities right in our own country! Although this particular year-long project is the primary reason for requesting a projector, this resource would obviously be used in other subject areas as well. For example we could view, discuss and write about artwork, we could share our writing with the entire class, we can also view informational websites as a class. You can make it possible!
