I teach at Burgaw Elementary School, which is located in the rural city of Burgaw, NC in Pender County. We are a title one school with over 73% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. I am currently teaching the first grade and will loop up to second grade next year with the same class. I teach all of the first grade English as a Second Language (ESL) children and will teach all of the second grade ESL children next year. I am seeking funding for a math program called TouchMath. It is also called the "alphabet of mathematics". This program uses a hands-on approach to learning different mathematic skills. I truly feel with all my heart that this program will be of great help to all of my students. They are really having a tough time understanding math concepts. We are only allowed $200 for all of our supplies at the beginning of the year and I have not been able to afford this beneficial math kit. I want my students to have as many learning tools as possible and I feel this would be perfect. In the past I have bought learning tools with my own money, but this year I am in Graduate School at night and with the cost of tuition, I am simply not able. If there is anyone who can help my students by providing funding for this math kit, we would truly appreciate it. Thank you and have a great day.
