This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My preschoolers come from one of the most diverse schools in the state. Most of my students just started school for the first time a few weeks ago and many suffered from separation anxiety those first few days, but I've witnessed so much progress. These 3-4-year-olds have varying degrees of autism that makes it very challenging in terms of socialization. Some are non-verbal while others are high performing, but all can benefit from the right techniques. My students are some of the sweetest kids you'll ever have the pleasure of knowing. I value them as if they were my own. Despite having autism, I've seen my students thrive in just a few weeks since they started school.

Students in my class can succeed!

When I guide my students to the right activities they bloom into something beautiful! It is like opening their eyes for the first time when you see the smile on their faces from a new experience that reached them.

My Project

My students have special needs that require personalized attention. Their autism already presents a challenge to social interactions, so distance learning through the computer calls for colorful interactive materials that they could actively use at home.

The development of fine motor skills and visual discrimination through these materials like the teaching tubs will lay the foundation for their future academic success.

As we cover numbers, colors, and letters, it becomes relevant when they view the lessons as play. Every child deserves the opportunity for equal access to the curriculum because the investment we make in them today benefits all of us in the future.
