Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The last spelling test was on March 13th. Daisy got 100%, as usual, and Matt should have studied a little bit more. How were to know that the test with ten words would have been the last test of the school year. Half of my scholars transitioned into remote learning pretty smoothly because they had family members that were able to support them. The other half, did not transition as well.
Family deaths, lack of technology/internet and language barriers affected a large chunk of my class.
Morning meetings turned into Morning Video messages. Mini-lessons turned into Youtube tutorials and books were found in e-book format. I missed their hugs. They missed the interactions with their teacher - me. The only resources they had were laptops or tablets (half of the class) and worksheets that I printed and sent to their homes. Thankfully, they all had pencils and notebooks still in their backpacks.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning from home by helping them stay organized. With a tote bag and a basket, they will have the basic storage items necessary to stay organized during remote learning. Not every student has a shelf full of books and drawers full of school supplies in a desk at home.
These materials will help my schoars keep the learning materials that I will be sending home.
My scholars need a designated area in their home for their workbooks, text books, pencils and notebooks. A tote bag and a basket will help.
