This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, imaginative, and eager to learn. We are a Title I school in a low-income urban community. Many of my students rely on being in school to receive the resources that they need to learn and the social-emotional outlets that they need to express themselves and manage their feelings.
My Project
Every year my students and I celebrate the end of the school year by tie-dying our own t-shirts. My students always enjoy expressing their creativity by participating in this hands on activity!
My students look forward to art-making and creating in school and for many of them this is the highlight of their day.
Most of my students do not have access to materials in their homes that will allow them to engage in creative art-making activities. To participate in our tie-dye project this year, each child will need their own white t-shirt and a personal tie-dye kit to create their tie-dye shirts. The tie-dye kits will be delivered to each child in the colorful draw sting bags included in this project.
