This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in a large urban city. Our teachers and staff provide a safe and fun learning environment. There are many experiences for all to have, but many students stay within our area. Most parents are immigrants. They are hardworking, caring, and involved. Our school is Title I, forty percent English Learners, and all kids receive free lunch.
My students are creative and come to school every day ready to learn.
We are a bilingual English/Spanish class. Kids love readers and writers workshop as well as anything to do with math and science. We work on projects through the year that incorporate classroom presentations and parent participation.
My Project
Since my students are mostly online, I will be using this technology to assist me with reading assessments weekly. At our school we are required to assess reading on a weekly basis, sharing a screen with assessment materials and opening many windows is very time consuming and difficult.
The iPad will allow me to assess students quickly minimizing teaching interruptions.
I will also use my iPad for digital planning. The iPad will help me better facilitate cohesive instruction and learning with my students during our daily lessons that will be done through distance learning.
Being online this year I have been able to sharpen my skills in many digital platforms. In addition, I will use the iPad to record Flipgrid videos for students when they are able to return to school.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
