Tootsie Roll Lolly Pop, Help Us Rise To The Top!

My students need headphones so that their iPads can be utilized in the best way possible to enhance their learning & to keep students engaged. We need a bookshelf to showcase our classroom library.

My Students

My students are curious, sassy, imaginative and sometimes just need some extra love. (Don't we all some days?!) I teach at a Title 1 Philadelphia Charter school in the northeast.

My students this year helped me grow more as a teacher than any other class I have ever taught.

They taught me patience, perseverance, and empathy just to name a few. I will miss them dearly when this year ends.

We go through supplies extremely fast in my classroom, and it's not always an easy task for parents to put out money for a third and fourth time because somehow all of our pencils have disappeared and erasers are nowhere to be found.

My students love when learning is interactive and they look forward to using their iPads to reinforce their learning across all subject areas. We are very fortunate to have iPads for each of our students, but they can be very distracting when not every child has headphones to use.

My Project

We are very fortunate at our school to have the use of one to one Ipads, but using them daily can be a challenge.

When students do not have headphones, the iPads can easily become a distraction to others in the classroom and can hinder students' ability to learn.

I rely mainly on my iPads during small group time so that I can give my students working with me the individualized help they deserve, while my other students are working independently and quietly. Each of my children having headphones will help me better utilize my small group time, which is truly the most important time of our day.

This year I am providing my students with a "comfy cozy" reading nook area. A statistic from the Children's Literacy Foundation states that: "The average child growing up in a low-income family has only been exposed to 25 hours of one-on-one reading."

The joy I get as a teacher when I see my students wanting to read and getting excited over a book is simply amazing. A large bookshelf will help me make my reading nook a more inviting place and will help me to keep my classroom library organized.

A quiet learning environment will help make my children more successful and keep them focused on their daily tasks at hand. Our classroom library will help my students develop a love and confidence when it comes to reading.
