Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyday my students rush into my classroom excited to build our classroom community into a family. Our classroom is a safe place for them to explore learning and grow into college and career ready learners!

My students live in an area of highest poverty in Central Los Angeles and 100% of our students receive a free lunch.

We are a Title 1 school and almost all of my students are English Language Learners and they are all also diagnosed with Autism. Many of my students have significant behavioral issues that impact instruction for themselves and their classmates.

My Project

The TOON bookset is highly visual, engaging, and the language and narrative of each story has been vetted by literacy experts to provide developmentally appropriate stories for students.

This set would be amazing in my classroom because my students are several grade levels behind in their reading ability and these books are engaging and FUN to read!

My students wouldn't feel as though they were reading books below their grade level. This is especially challenging for my fifth grade students that struggle with reading. All the titles in this set are age-appropriate and the artwork is stunning, which will be visually motivating for my students to persevere. This donation would have a huge impact on my students and grow their love of reading!
