Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with a wonderful group of students who are in need of reading and math intervention. Some of them are two or more grade levels below. Our school has a diverse population with a variety of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and academic strengths. Many of my students have been impacted by COVID-19 and are working so hard to fill the academic, social, and emotional learning gaps created by these hardships. I provide engaging activities in a variety of modalities to help my students learn and grow.
My Project
I am requesting TOON comic books to promote a lifelong love of reading. Help me provide a great way to support struggling readers by adding to our class library and get students invested in reading. These engaging graphic novels have comics and visual narratives that bring the text to life. They will encourage my students' imaginations and motivate them to read.
Graphic novels help readers by providing the context of stories and pair it with illustrations in a way that students can read more appropriate leveled materials instead of picture books.
TOON Graphic book collection will capture my readers imaginations by incorporating diverse characters and high-interest subjects in a way that bring text to life.
