Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Last month, I welcomed new group of third grade students into my virtual classroom. I am teaching third grade for the first time in Northern California school. We are a Title 1 school that supports a diverse group of children from various cultural backgrounds. Many of our students are English Language Learners. Seventy two percent of our student population qualifies for reduced and free lunch and breakfast. Although many students come from low-income families, they are a dedicated group of students and excited to learn.

My Project

As my students work from home during the pandemic they will be working on older Chromebooks. The track pads on these Chromebooks aren't as receptive as they are on newer devices.

As students learn new platforms this trimester, having a mouse will help eliminate frustration caused by the track pads and allow the students to navigate their devices with more ease.

My students are not exposed to the technology at home. When they need to right click to open tabs, they are struggling. Having a mouse to use will definitely help them to navigate and work efficiently, as well as reduce frustration.
