My Project
I teach math to a variety of students, some are gifted in math and some struggle with simple addition. They all need to develop a strong foundation of math skills. The math tools I am requesting will provide essential practice and conceptualization that can be built upon throughout the student's education.

My students will develop more clear and deeper understanding of basic math concepts with these tools. Twenty dry erase number lines will help students see the theory of multiplication and division as they "jump" groups on the line. Classroom posters stressing the essential math vocabulary and patterns will raise recognition. Further, Multiplication, fraction, and geometry games and models will encourage students to practice these skills. "When you practice, you get better. It is very simple."
Student's skills, at my school, are evaluated frequently. Students are assigned to RTI groups that focus on their specific needs. These targeted skill groups are taught by classroom teachers as well as aides who are instructed by teachers. The math tools I am requesting will be used in my classroom and these target groups. They will benefit struggling students, ESL students, grade level students, and enrichment students for several years.
