Tools to Build Independence, Collaboration, and Confidence in History Class

My Project
I am always looking for ways to build confidence in my students. I see a need in two areas. First, some students often rely more on their teachers than themselves to complete their work. They lack the confidence in their own skills and fear taking independent steps in their learning. One strategy I have started using is instructional videos (created by me) to help instill independence and confidence in these students. The videos allow students to move through a lesson at their own pace and return to parts of the lesson they want to review or hear again. They can tailor-make the pacing for their learning style. When they are working on lessons outside of the classroom, they have these videos to guide them through lessons until they return to class the next day. Sometimes students still need support, but many times they are able to figure it out and complete the work on their own. The earphones I am requesting are an invaluable tool to allow them to use these videos independently in class.
Some students also lack confidence when working in groups, especially with other students they don’t know.
They often feel lost or self-conscious and shut down during group work. With the use of the earphone splitters, I can have students use instructional videos of me guiding their group work. Its just the right amount of guidance to give them the chance to exert some independence and be successful.
The highlighters, markers, and speakers (for whole class instruction) are other tools that will enhance their learning and promote independence. All of the tools in this project will open new dimensions of learning for all of my students. Thank you for considering our class project.
