Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For most of my children, this is their first experience being away from home and being separated from their families. Being away from home is difficult for most students but compounded with the pandemic, it can be a traumatic experience, none the less they come to school each day, full of energy, curiosity, excitement to be here, and ready to learn and play! To them, school is a place where they feel safe, loved, and valued. This difficult transition is also affected by their already existing life circumstances.
Our children come from low-income households and receive free breakfast and lunch.
With your help, you can help give them the tools they need to ensure that they have a successful school year!
My Project
For many of our parents, this is their first experience leaving their little one at school, feeling a little nervous, wondering what their child is doing at school all day. For this reason, I understand the importance of keeping open communication between teachers and parents and providing as many resources to help their children both at school and at home.
The binders will be used in the classroom to showcase students' work.
It will also be sent home on a daily basis filled with valuable resources and pertinent information to help parents practice academic skills with their children at home.
Since many children are lacking the most basic tools at home I would also like to provide a pencil pouch filled with writing tools like crayons, markers, and pencils for children to use at home to practice the necessary skills to have a successful year at school.
The binders will be a very useful tool for students, parents, and teachers.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
