Tools, Tech, and Treats: Empowering Every Math Mind
Help me give my students flexibility in the classroom with a Bluetooth touch pad that connects to the Newline Board, lapdesks for flexible seating, pencils and breakfast foods so students are prepared, fed and ready to learn.
In my high school math classroom, I strive to create a flexible, supportive environment where all students can focus, collaborate, and thrive. As a high school math teacher, I know that learning doesn't happen in a vacuum—it requires energy, confidence, the right tools, and a supportive environment. My goal is to create a classroom where every student feels equipped and empowered to participate, take risks, and grow as a mathematician. That means meeting their academic needs and their basic needs.
With this project, I’m working to bring in some key resources that will help make math more interactive, learning spaces more comfortable, and students more prepared—no matter where they’re starting from each day.
Materials List and Justification:
1. Wacom Intuos Wireless Graphics Drawing Tablet with Bluetooth (Medium size)- This tool allows both me and my students to wirelessly write and present on our Newline interactive board from anywhere in the classroom. It encourages student participation and makes instruction more dynamic and accessible.
2. Portable Lap Desks- Some students prefer sitting in flexible seating around the room. These lap desks give them a stable surface to work on, supporting different learning preferences and increasing comfort and focus.
3. Bulk Pack of Fun Pencils - Students frequently lose or forget pencils. These fun pencils ensure everyone is equipped for success while adding a bit of joy to everyday supplies.
4. Bulk Pack of Breakfast Foods - It’s hard to concentrate on math when you’re hungry. Having a stash of breakfast bars or muffins available ensures that students can start their day focused and ready to learn, no matter what’s happening at home.
