This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In order to spell, you need to encode words. In other words, pull the sounds apart within a word and match letters to the sounds.
My first grade students are learning to sound words out and write sentences.
A favorite activity of theirs is to listen to words and sentences dictated. Their job, after listening, is to sound the words out and write them correctly. Dry erase markers allow my students to encode and fix mistakes easily, as they go back and check their work. Pencils are used throughout the day in all subjects, and flip chart markers write nicely on the chart paper used in class.
These supplies are used often and will be greatly appreciated.
