Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our morning begins when my first graders walk into the room laughing, talking, and bustling to get ready for another great learning day. My school is considered as an inner-city school.
Most of our students are identified as economically disadvantaged.
All of our students participate in the National Free Lunch Program. My class consists of 24 first grade students. They are eager learners and try their best to achieve their dream. As their teacher, I want to give them the tools to enrich their learning experience.
My Project
My students need essential writing and coloring tools to have at home. Since my students are first graders, they express their thinking through not only writing but also drawing.
I have learned that coloring is a great way to encourage the reluctant artists to draw and write more.
At school, we provide the basic tools such as pencils and crayons. However, many of my students do not have them at home. Very often, I hear them saying that they could not color the pictures at home because coloring tools were not available at home. I would like to have my students to have a set of coloring tools and some writing tools at home. My students will use them for practicing writing, drawing, and coloring at home.
I cannot stress enough the importance of coloring and writing tools for my students to have at home. I believe all students should have necessary tools to practice their writing and drawing all the time.
Won't you join me in providing these essential tools for my students with a small donation?
