My Project
What I love most about my students is their uniqueness, resilience, and the way they see the world with such honesty and curiosity.
That’s why I’m so passionate about creating a classroom that meets their individual needs.
This project aims to create a sensory-friendly learning corner within a preschool to kindergarten classroom that supports young children in developing emotional regulation, fine motor skills, and improved attention. The initiative integrates three key tools: the Kaplan Early Learning Fold and Carry Floor Mat, the Danemort Montessori Wooden Busy Board, and Chair Bands for Kids with Fidgety Feet. Together, these resources form a supportive environment that caters especially to children with sensory processing challenges or ADHD, while benefiting all learners.
The Kaplan Fold and Carry Floor Mat serves as the foundation for a calming area within the classroom. This soft, portable mat provides a safe and inviting space where children can take sensory breaks, relax with a book, or simply decompress when overstimulated. Its portability also makes it easy to reposition or use outdoors. Adjacent to this quiet area, the Danemort Montessori Wooden Busy Board offers children the opportunity to engage in self-guided fine motor activities. With features such as zippers, buttons, locks, and latches, the board encourages skill-building through tactile exploration, helping children strengthen hand muscles and practice focus, patience, and independence.
Meanwhile, the Chair Bands for Kids with Fidgety Feet are installed on classroom chairs, allowing students to stretch and bounce their legs quietly during seated tasks. These bands provide an outlet for physical energy and help students maintain attention during group activities, learning centers, or circle time. This sensory-friendly setup promotes self-regulation and minimizes classroom disruptions while supporting diverse learning styles.
