My Students
I am the school counselor at a middle school in northern California. As the counselor, I have about 550 students under my "wing," and while not all students come to seek help from me, I support all that walk through my door.
Students today are faced with more stress and anxiety than ever before.
Between the pressure to succeed, competitive sports, and the social pressures and issues that they face in a digital world, I am finding more students in need of counseling. It is my goal to help all students as they face this really confusing time in their lives called middle school.
My Project
The books and tools I have requested cover a range of needs for the middle school students that I see. Some kids are stressed, some are anxious, some are facing problems with friends or at home.
Middle school students need tools to help them express and relieve the problems they are facing.
Whether it be a stress toy to fidget out their anxiety, an activity that helps them express themselves, or a book that relates to their own life, these tools can help my students in a number of ways. This project will support my goal of supporting all students by adding a few more tools into my box that I can use when meeting with students.
