Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a Kindergarten class of 25 students in an inner-city, free lunch school that is part of a district that has a $10 million dollar budget shortage.
I do not like to ask the families of these students to provide school supplies, since most do not have the extra funds. I did not receive any of the supplies I requested this year due to the budget shortage. In addition to supplies I have purchased on my own, such as folders, labels, glue, etc., I have some items left over to start off this year's new Kindergarten class. However, these daily tools and supplies that I have left will not last. These items are integral to the function of a Kindergarten classroom as they are the necessary items these students need to learn.
I will need crayons, paint, scissors, construction paper, and a heavy duty sharpener. The consumable requested tools and supplies will serve two years of Kindergarten students. The scissors and sharpener will benefit many students this year and years to come.
You will make it possible for my students, and my future students, to have the tools and supplies they need to be successful. Your help will be invaluable in providing my students with the basic of classroom supplies that will be used in all areas of the curriculum.
