Help me give my students the tools they need to LEARN! Lets assure that something as small as a pencil does not impede on the learning of our young kings and queens.

My Students
The scholars of United Leaders 4th grade classroom are ambitious, tenacious, resilient, and dedicated to learning! My scholars love a good challenge and they do not allow ANYTHING to get in their way of being and displaying EXCELLENCE! They are one of the many jewels that can be found at our school!
Our school is striving for High Performance at the Throne of Excellence!
The teachers and staff are so into the scholars and West Philadelphia community, affirming their greatness and speaking positivity into their bright future!
My Project
"I woke myself up
Because we ain’t got an alarm clock
Dug in the dirty clothes basket,
Cause ain’t nobody washed my uniform
Brushed my hair and teeth in the dark,
Cause the lights ain’t on
Even got my baby sister ready,
Cause my mama wasn’t home.
Got us both to school on time,
To eat us a good breakfast.
Then when I got to class the teacher fussed
Cause I ain’t got no pencil"
-Joshua T. Dickerson
This poem is a reflection of the life of many of the scholars I serve. They push through despite all their adversities and make it to school everyday. They might not have a pencil but they have the mindset to learn.
Many of my scholars lack the resources they need at home to continue their learning. Providing scholars with something as simple as a pencil and box of crayons would allow for a great learning experience.
