My Students

My students are in a general education classroom full time, but need some extra help with reading and math. The students learn more effectively when provided real-life, concrete examples and applications. Manipulatives, physical objects, and pictures are really important for helping them learn. Motivating them by working on investigations in science and using drawings and art to support their learning work best.

The students at our school are in the highest-poverty level, nearly 100% of students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch.

Despite their different learning needs, my students are dedicated learners. They utilize curiosity and genuine interest to guide their learning journey.

My Project

My students are able to succeed with physical materials to manipulate and practice with. The materials help bridge the gap from the abstract nature of math problems into a concrete level the students can manipulate to understand. If funded, these materials will be used by the students directly to support their learning.

Math manipulatives and reading tools will be directly in the hands of the students.

Counters, regrouping, and pattern tiles will be accessible as they need them. Each student will receive a reading tracker and will use the practice cards for building their comprehension skills.
