Tools for Learning - Tools for the Job

Help me give my students access to safe, high-quality, and industry-ready tools to use in our agricultural mechanics shop. We need tape measures, safety glasses, earplugs, and screwdrivers.

My Project

Skyscrapers, cars, cell phones, and fences...All of these items have one commonality among them - welding. We teach our students how to weld using SMAW and GMAW techniques every day. We emphasize the importance of protecting ourselves through the use of Personal Protective Equipment while working in the shop. Part of the PPE students need includes safe and proper equipment like safety glasses and tools.

Broken tools and equipment are dangerous to students as they learn in the AgEd shop - but budget cuts and other limiting factors have prevented new equipment from being purchased or replaced.

Our program closed in 2011 due to budget cuts. When we restarted it back in 2018, we asked for donations of equipment to help make sure our students had what they needed to learn in the shop. These tools have done their job and are now in need of repair. COVID has highlighted this need and this project will go a long way in making sure our students continue to work in a safe and responsible manner.
