Tools for Future Auto Techs! Electrical Circuit Building
My students need electrical supplies to make their automotive electrical circuit projects.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Amiot's classroom raised $463
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 10th grade automotive students will use these electrical supplies to build basic automotive circuits on boards. The circuits will operate as they will follow a schematic and they will be able to test them when finished. These boards will be disassemble and reused for the next classes.
My students are from grades 9 through 12 and are majoring in Automotive Technology for 4 years at our Technical High School.
Bullard -Havens Technical High School is a state run, inner city technical high school where students spend half the school year in their chosen trade. Students are advanced apprentices when they graduate and we try to place them in industry through Work Based Learning or in Post Secondary Automotive Colleges before they graduate. Understanding electricity is critical to our students and the automotive industry and these materials will help students build their own circuits on training boards to be used and tested by all. They will use test lights, DVOMs and schematics to set up and test circuits. I have collected automotive horns, lights, some switches and motors, and have the boards to set them up on, but we need these supplies to make the boards. These supplies will be disassembled at the end of the year and reused for next years class. Thank you!
My Project
The students will learn the measures of electricity, how to build and test circuits and read schematics by building and testing these hands on circuit boards. They will build a horn circuit, lighting circuits, starter motor circuit, washer pump circuit, and blower motor circuit to start. This will build and strengthen their electrical diagnosis skills which they will need for success in the automotive industry which they are training for. This training will make them employable and prepare them for post secondary auto studies which is crucial for inner city student success. A hands on approach is what helps the students learn and remember.Application of what they will learn in theory and apply to these boards will strengthen their learning and retention of electricity in their automotive technology studies. Please consider helping. I do collect items on my own and have become very resourceful, but sometimes extra support is needed.
The students need to understand electricity and circuits to be successful and employable in the automotive trade.
This hands on practice will help them meet their curriculum goals for electrical as well as prepare them for the industry's needs. These supplies will make a direct and immediate impact on my automotive students and will be reused for future classes. Thank you for your time and consideration. I will provide photos and information when they are completed. Thank you!
