My students are a delightful group of kindergartners who love school and learning. They attend a Title I school that is in the neighborhood where many of them live. They all love to work hard and have made a tremendous amount of growth in the first trimester of the school year. They are an extremely kind group of kids who value the differences they see in each other. They come from all backgrounds, and most of them are learning English as a second language. They are deserving a wonderful education, and I am so lucky to be their teacher this year!
My Project
My students are in need of Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs. Many of my students came to kindergarten without yet knowing the names of the letters in the alphabet or the sounds they make. Having these hands on materials would help them make the connection between the letters and sounds they make in a tactile way.
They have a love and passion for literacy.
I want to be able to support this passion they have a such a young age by providing them with the skills they need to begin reading in kindergarten. They will be able to use them in a variety of ways and across multiple subjects.
