My Students
My school is a low-income school with around 50% of all students being on free or reduced lunch. My group of students range from advanced STEM ability to resource and special education. They are hard-working, challenging, and diverse students who just need a little boost and a glimpse at a different world. Some of these students live in low-connectivity areas with varied access schedules.
My Project
Last year we had to scramble to create online curriculum when school shut down due to the pandemic. Lacking adequate hardware to make videos for my students, we all struggled. In the case that our school is shut down again this year, I am hoping to be more prepared.
Online instruction using videos and face-to-face instruction results in a Blended Learning Environment to make sure I can still reach my students in the event of schools closing again.
One webcam for home, one for my classroom, and one for a partner teacher will let me immediately make a video for any students who are struggling with a concept. This way I can help students during the day or at night, since I have found that many students do online work in the evening and not during the day.
