Tools For Active Learners

Help me give my students wiggle stools for active seating, high quality headphones for computer lessons, teacher supplies for creating hands on Montessori lessons and items to refresh our classroom.

My Project

My students are a bright, inquisitive and active group in the Montessori program at the Detroit Public Schools Community District. They are excited about many things, from watching and documenting Monarch caterpillars transform into butterflies, to building structures and compound words and skip counting to 1000 with the aid of the Montessori bead cabinet. They love to draw and are excited about learning to read. We are working hard and very excited to be in person.

Wiggle stools are one of the most desired items in my classroom--adding six more will thrill my students!

We currently have five wiggle stools to share among 26 students, so when I asked what they would like to add to our classroom, wiggle stools were the top choice. They allow students to gently rock while doing their work and, don't tell them, strengthen their core and promote good posture. These headphones come highly recommended and will replace some well used headphones that we need daily for our computer lessons and upcoming standardized testing. Dry erase markers help motivate practice during lessons. I will used the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, the cardstock, ink, paper cutter and laminating sheets to make specialized lessons for our classroom shelves. I discovered the construction paper crayons when visiting the art room and am excited to have them available for students who are demonstrating learning through illustrations and posters.
