Help me give my students pencils, erasers, markers, and crayons for school supplies!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Mapp's classroom raised $429
This project is fully funded
My Project
I love my students' resilience. Over 90% of my students come from distressed backgrounds. One out of 10 families can afford the basic school supplies. Sometimes cost of uniforms take away the needed funds for school supplies.
In order to start off the school year strong, students' school supplies (learning tools) are important.
Commonwealth Journal stated, "Basic school supplies provide much needed structure to learning. Having appropriate school supplies decreases classroom disruptions that often hinder effective teaching and learning. Students without supplies can't fully participate in educational activities and they frequently distract others." In this project I am requesting EXPO markers, pencils, erasers, glue sticks, and crayons. I am also requesting Clorox wipes to keep things healthy and clean in the classroom.
Can you image being asked to write your name on a paper on the first day of school, yet you have no pencil or paper? This may be embarrassing to some students and may cause them to withdraw, become self destructive, or act out. Simple or minute actions, events, or tangible objects can be confidence boosters or calming strategies.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
