My Students
My students are from a Title I school in rural Oklahoma where I also grew up. A large percentage of our students live below the poverty level and have rarely experienced the world outside of our local area. They need opportunities to gain new experiences with hands-on learning about the world outside our rural area.
COVID has provided new challenges for my students and my classroom.
Moving from a traditional learning environment to one without pencil and paper has been good, but sometimes, frustrating for them. I know they have the desire and ability to learn and grow; they just need the opportunity and the tools. Exploring ideas in tangible ways is something my students enjoy and have a definite interest in doing. They understand what they need to succeed; they just lack the experience and the tools.
My Project
Now that we have successfully managed to transition to 1:1 devices in our school, our major problem is repairing things as they get damaged. By having the necessary tools to make repairs safely, I can keep my kids working.
This toolkit has all the necessary screwdrivers and prying tools to pop off the cases on the Chromebooks and small tweezers so that I don’t get fingerprints or debris on the sensitive electronic parts.
The static mat will keep me from shorting out something. The adapters will make sure that I can test the products before I send them back to the students.
Having broken items makes it harder to reach our goals. Please help me purchase the necessary supplies to keep our Chromebooks and computers in working order. I sometimes have to swap out a display screen or a trackpad, and I don't really have the correct tools to do so safely.
