I teach in a Title I elementary school in a suburban district. In my classroom, I have a diverse population of 16 wonderful students, many of whom come from low-income families. Each student plays a vital role in our "classroom family" and it is my goal to nurture each child's uniqueness and help each child thrive in their journey through first grade.
They are budding engineers, artists, scientists, and more!
These students deserve the best, but I need your help!
Thank you for supporting this amazing classroom family!
My Project
Oral language development develops early and is a requirement for reading comprehension.
Teaching speaking, listening, and reading with masks on is so challenging!
With masks students are unable to see where your tongue, teeth and lips are when demonstrating sounds. It also makes it harder to see students mouths to make corrections. These resources will allow me to show my students the mouths of kids properly forming sounds, show phonics cards as examples for speech to print, and and give students additional practice with essential reading skills.
The sound wall will allow me to show students pictures of what their mouths should look like as they are saying each sound and help to reinforce our phonics curriculum.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
