My Students
Many of my students are on the autism spectrum, some stutter, others have mild to moderate cognitive challenges, but all have some form of language-based disability. It can be tough for them to navigate their education. They need special strategies and resources including communication books and pages to help them get their ideas across to others.
My students are bright, funny, sweet, technology-loving children.
They need extra help to develop their language, social interaction, and life skills. My goal is to target authentic language and give them strategies so they can work around their disabilities – for learning and for happy, successful lives.
My Project
Schools are noisy places. Did you know that background noise and echoes have a significant negative impact on learning? I did. These headphones will help us focus, get lost in books, learn new words, and listen with increased clarity and without distraction. A quiet environment is not a luxury. This equipment will reduce background noise and enhance our eReading experience. Even more, we can use these headphones when our some of our more sensitive special needs students participate in assemblies. They find the noise overwhelming. These will help.
We can't always have a quiet environment.
With your help, we'll be able to block out noisy hallways and band rehearsals to let in the words that bring stories to life. Our language development depends on it!
