My students need would benefit greatly from the use of alphabet sound teaching tubs. At the beginning of Kindergarten, many students need a lot of support in applying the understanding of the letters and their sounds.

My Students
Our school is located in a beautiful coastal community. The students that attend our school come from various backgrounds, ability levels and experiences. Our school serves children from all backgrounds and languages. We serve a high number of English as a Second Language Students. We are a Title One, high poverty school.
This year, my classroom consists of twenty new Kinder students.
I know they will be full of life and ready to learn. My students love to try fun and different ways of learning. We try and use as many different types of manipulatives and materials as possible when learning. I am blessed to be called their teacher.
My Project
At the beginning of Kindergarten, many students need a lot of concrete, visual clues to support their learning. As they are learning the alphabet, remembering what each letter is and the sounds that they make can be confusing.
The alphabet tubs would be a great resource to support my Kinder learners in literacy.
The tubs could be used to teach the letters, beginning sounds and eventually creating whole words. This resources would be used in whole group and small group settings to teach and review. I have used these in tutoring in the past and they worked great!!! What a valuable resource!
More than half of students from low‑income households
