Tons of Toys for Girls and Boys!

My students need toys to play with during choice time and indoor recess. Legos, a Playmobil zoo, 50 Hot Wheels cars, kitchen toys and ninja turtles will provide endless opportunities to play at school.

My Students

My students are sweet little five year olds. At the start of school many of them are nervous about being away from home. My students speak a variety of languages including Vietnamese, Amharic, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, and English. Most of my students live below the poverty line and have not had preschool experiences. I want their first school experience to be fun and exciting. Although my students face socioeconomic challenges, they are always ready to learn and eager to be at school.

My Project

Playing and activating the imagination of youngsters is so important for kindergarten students. They come to class ready to learn and play. Part of being five years old is PLAYING! This project will bring toys to our classroom. I am lucky to work at a school that allows me to have a daily play time. After spending 14 years in the classroom, many of my toys have seen better days, like the 3 legged horse and one leg Barbie). This project will provide my students with lots of toys: Legos, cars, food and play cleaning materials for the home center, a new "road" carpet and lots of cars. Playmobil toys are durable and have exciting pieces. I am requesting a play-school, bus, and zoo for students to use during free time.

Daily active play stimulates creativity and a love for school.

My students will enjoy their play time when they enter class. My students will be building social skills like sharing, taking turns, requesting materials, cooperation, and compromise as they play with durable toy sets. I love providing my students with engaging toys so they know that school is more than just Common Core academics! My students will look forward to coming to school when they know that they have fun toys in the classroom. School is a place to learn and it is a place to have FUN. Please help us bring these toys into our classroom!
