Students in the early childhood intervention program love and benefit from listening to the Tonies . Many educational skills are targeted with this engaging tool, and having different Tonies available allows more students' interests to be expressed.
The Tonies box and characters allow students to utilize screen-free technology and gain benefits that come from being read to, such as listening skills, comprehension, language development, etc.
Each character has stories and/or songs that are pre-loaded. Characters are fiction, non-fiction, songs and music. When the character is placed on top of the box, the stories and songs play. Some of my special education preschoolers can adjust the volume on their own, as well as change the characters when they would like. Others enjoy the Tonies with adult supervision. Tapping the box on either side, allows the students to change the stories or songs that are playing.
