Help me give my students Tonie boxes for our reading center. Tonie boxes will ensure student are interested in reading and will provide an approach to learning that appeals to multiple learning styles.
My preschool students come from the inner-city and do not have as many advantages as students from other areas. We are located in Louisiana which has one of the lowest Literacy rates in the nation and is Title I which is majority low income. Schools and teachers are responsible for making sure student have all the need to be successful in the classroom as well as when they leave our classroom.
Students will succeed when given the opportunity!
They come to school eager to learn and are curious about the world around them. My school is a safe place for them, a place for them to be nurtured, loved, and prepared for the future.
My Project
I recently got a Toniebox for my 2 year old and I realized the potential for use within the classroom. I joined groups to learn more about how best use this resource in the classroom. The Toniebox is so easy to use for preschool students. They can easily switch characters to suit their needs. It's easy for them to change the volume and go to the next song or story. We have free choice center time each day but the reading center often sits empty. I know that will change with this resource.
I would like to have a Toniebox center set up in the classroom for students to enjoy and began to foster a love of reading. Preschool students usually do not have the skills to read independently but can grow to love books if they can listen to a story while they follow along with the pictures.
