My Project
I teach a 18 fun, excited kindergarteners! They love learning new things and are on their way to becoming strong readers. As a teacher, I want to make sure they learn to love reading, and to allow them to have time each day to listen to stories.
The problem I face is that the CD player and books on CD are antiquated and difficult for children today.
The TonieBox system allows children to easily choose between many different books. They choose a tangible book character and place it on top of the machine. It will automatically begin reading stories from that author to the children. Each Tonies character plays many book from that author. To forward to the next book, they simply tap the side of the box. It is created for young children to listen to stories without frustration or needing adult assistance to trouble shoot.
If this Donor's Choose project is funded for my classroom, it would provide my kindergartners with 1 Tonies box, a headphone splitter, and headphones to allow several children to settle in together to listen to a story. It will also provide them with a basket of 13 Tonies to choose from. Each Tonies character has multiple books and songs from an author. This would provide them with hours and hours of stories to choose from and enjoy throughout the year.
