This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of the students would tell me how they would like to be apart of a middle school band just like their older siblings. They attend music class with excitement and eagerness shown on their smiling faces and would say to me "I like music". They are so special and I felt happy hearing them say that.

My students read rhythmic and musical notations; introducing them to recorder playing can be very rewarding regardless of their economic status and cultural background.

My Project

The Soprano Recorders is a project not only to learn to play an instrument but also to develop in students their listening skills to intonation and the proper way of breathing and blowing technique. It teaches students fine motor skills of fingers and tongue coordination. It comes along the benefits of boosting their self-confidence; it develops creativity and develops patience and perseverance. It also strengthens their memory and reading skills and makes​ them feel a sense of belonging to a group.

Researches have shown that playing an instrument has an impact on cognitive development, emotional development, emotional maturity, and social skills; these things we typically don't measure in school but which are hugely important in a child's ultimate success.”
