This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Writing is the painting of the voice!" Voltaire. My amazing third graders are finding their voices and gaining confidence in their writing.

My students rock.

They are 18 of the most interested, caring, funny, and resilient children ever. Our school is located in an impoverished, urban area where all children receive free breakfast and lunch. We have been experiencing quite the whirlwind of change over the last year or so. Our building was closed due to air quality issues, and our school community was then split into two separate buildings nearby. Throughout all of the transitioning, my students and I have remained focused on reaching our academic goals. My students love to come to their caring classroom community to explore and have all made great gains so far. They prefer to be here working in peace and frequently state that it has felt like an early dismissal day because the day went by so quickly. Again, my children rock!

My Project

My students need the toner to be able to print their writing pieces. They have been studying frogs in their reading unit and are becoming quite the frog experts. They have been honing their skills writing informative pieces. Their most recent piece described how bullfrogs survive by using physical and behavioral adaptations. My students would love to be able to type and print their essays to hang proudly on our bulletin boards. It would improve their typing skills as well. We have six class computers for them to utilize, yet are unable to print their work easily.

The donation of toner will allow my students to be able to easily print their writing pieces.

At the time, we have to jump through many hoops to save the writing and locate a functioning printer to use. These children deserve to be able to print their work here in their classroom.
