Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 25 curious fourth-grade scientists in a small Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
During this time of COVID-19, my 21st Century learners use technology every day at home. We have recently received a printer, so before the school closures my students were eager to publish all of their written work, from simple book reports to complicated research projects! It was such a joy to see my students so excited about creating and sharing the fruits of their labor. Now, however, once a month I send paper project packets home to my students to give them a break from doing all of their work on the computer. They look forward to receiving these packets as it gives them some much need relief from staring at a computer screen for hours.
My challenge is keeping an ample supply of toner for our printer!
With your help, our class will have enough toner to continue to produce and publish and I will be able to continue printing out colorful assignments for them to complete at home. This donation will make an immediate impact on their learning environment at home and enhance the sense of accomplishment and pride my students feel every time they complete and turn in their work.
