My Students

Imagine trying to learn how to be competitive in 21st century college classes while working with early 20th century technology. This does not provide the best atmosphere for my dedicated entrepreneurial students. To change this, I am requesting books, supplies, games, DVDs and curriculum materials.

My students are amazing creative individuals that despite their situation have a positive attitude in life.

The majority live in poverty and qualify for free lunches. They do not have background knowledge and exposure to best serve them when competing with other high school students for post-secondary placement. They are taking college classes in high school which shows their potential. The class I currently teach is Syracuse University Entrepreneurship. This earns my students 3 college credits. They constantly amaze me with their creativity, initiative and motivation to learn about creating a business, balancing their own checkbook or finding out how they can maintain a stellar credit score. Unfortunately, I do not have the "college" technology and resources to enhance our course. Moreover, I believe this entrepreneurship class will inspire some to pursue their interest in business.

My Project

The resources needed for my classroom are books, supplies, games, DVDs and curriculum materials. These will help educate my students about financial literacy, personal finance skills, responsible investing and the stock market as well as budgeting and financial accounting. Teaching students financial skills can help them spend wisely, save more and make good financial choices in the future. In addition to the materials for this project, my students will do extensive research for projects and the stapler will be utilized to organize the paperwork. I am fortunate to be able to offer this class to my students since most business classes and teachers have been eliminated due to budget constraints.

How did you learn about checking your credit score or the importance of personal financial responsibility?

These entrepreneurship and personal finance supplies will help my students learn about these topics related to economics. Please help us attain the materials that will inspire our students to perhaps one day become the next Bill Gates or Steve Jobs. As always, I appreciate your support of my students and classroom.
