My Students

My students come from all different types of backgrounds and cultures. My homeroom alone includes ten different languages! This school has an impressively strong sense of community, as well. It is truly unparalleled how our school community can come together for the common goal of helping each other grow. These students deserve nothing but the best!

We are diverse and value working collaboratively.

Our students are engaged learners! The students are challenged to think critically and to become problem solvers. Our students are also part of STEAM classes, and they love incorporating technology when our resources allow.

My Project

I am requesting two small whiteboards to replace the long chalkboard in my classroom. My students and I implement responsive classroom and morning meeting.

Teaching tolerance and acceptance of others is one of the core areas of morning meeting, along with starting the day off right with making good choices.

My students have in many cases been with the same students for years. It is very difficult at times for them to get along with each other. Having this whiteboard will enable us to start each day off on the right foot.

I will be able to put a clear schedule on the board, and a schedule for use of different materials and seating in the classroom. I will also be able to use them for displaying directions for meeting activities. Having schedules and expectations posted clearly will enable the students to get along better with their peers and the materials in the classroom. It also makes a difference that my new classroom is very long so having a whiteboard as opposed to chalk will help the students in the back to see better.
