Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are currently learning remotely from home. We are using Google Classroom as a platform for learning. My students thankfully all have a device to engage in learning with, whether it be an iPad, DOE device, laptop, or computer!
Unfortunately, as the year winds down, my students have run out of reading materials at home since they only took home a baggie full at the beginning of quarantine.
I have provided them with websites to continue their independent reading, but I fear there are not enough high-interest texts for them!
My Project
As a result of schools being closed for the remainder of the year, my graduating fifth graders have had many of the surrounding activities taken away from them. This includes prom, trip, and the graduation ceremony. Somehow, they have maintained their love of learning and are always searching for reading books! I would like to be able to provide each student with at least 4 high-interest books on their individual reading levels! This will help boost their spirits and avoid the “summer slide”. This will help ease their transition to middle school! I’ll present these books to my students in a basket on their doorstep with other goodies during the last week of school.
